Thankful

Monday - November 22, 2010

Dear 101,

It’s that time of year again where we get to take a little break from the hustle and bustle of life and spend some time relaxing w/ friends and family, eating lots of turkey, and thanking God for all that He’s given to us in Jesus Christ. May we spend these next few days thanking the Lord for His goodness and faithfulness poured down on us this past year; all of His answered prayers, all the times He got you through difficult days and hours, every sin forgiven, every cherished friendship, and the daily provisions of food, shelter and health. May the the crescendo of our praise though be for the cross where Christ suffered and gave up His life so that we could be raised to life from spiritual death!! I pray that our Thanksgiving breaks would be a time of much refreshing as we draw nearer to Christ thru the Word and in prayer, full of thanksgivings!!

Please note some important announcements as well:

  • Because of Thanksgiving, there will be no 101 this Friday. We will meet back up the next Friday, Dec. 3rd at Grace Church, together with Foundation, as Pastor Rick ministers the Word to us. We will send details sometime next week.
  • In lieu of the 101 this Friday, I have decided to open up my place for a little prayer meeting from 5-6pm. We will be praying specifically for unbelieving family and friends. Afterwards, we can get some dinner and play boardgames/watch a movie, etc…. Please RSVP if you plan on coming. You can come after 6pm as well; whatever is most conducive for your holiday schedules.

That’s it folks. Have a happy Thanksgiving!!!

Some Announcements

Monday - November 22, 2010

Dear 101,

How are you all doing this week? I hope you are all continuing to day by day to seek His face in the midst of the incessant business of life. I pray that this is indeed the case for all of us.

I just wanted to make a few announcements and let you go:

  • New Start Time on Fridays-Not really, but starting this Friday we are going to start our worship at 8pm; the official time we are supposed to start at. Yes, it’s true:) So please, if you could all try to get there starting around 7:45 for some time of greetings and getting settled down before we start at 8pm, the leadership team would really appreciate it. We want to maximize our time of fellowship after discussion groups so please try coming earlier on Friday’s.Thank you.
  • Elder’s Meeting Tomorrow at 7pm-Come get to know our elders and see how the leadership of our church interacts and operates. If you’ve never been to one, this is a must experience. Guaranteed encouragement. It is in J260 and lasts until 9pm.
  • This Friday-This Friday I will be preaching on Ephesians 2:1-3 if you want to study up on it, memorize or just get acquainted with the text. I want to encourage all of you to make a real effort to come this Friday especially since a good number of the 101 will be gone to help Ayemi prep for her wedding.

Together in Christ,

George
